I love the look of a stacked braid. Basically, you just stack another type of twist or braid on your first braid. They are pretty simple to do and can add an element of dimension on a toddler hairstyle.

Stacked Dutch Braid and Twist Instructions:
1. Spray hair down so it is damp. Part a middle section of hair that goes from the front back to the crown of the head.
2. Section off the very front of the hair and secure it with an elastic. This is going to serve as your stacked twist and is better illustrated in the video below.
3. Pull the bottom portion into a ponytail so that the hair is out of the way and you don’t accidentally add extra hair into your dutch braid.
4. Begin a dutch braid with your middle section of hair. If you aren’t sure how to do a dutch braid, you can find my dutch braid tutorial for toddlers on Youtube.
5. After you’ve run out of hair for your dutch braid, secure with an elastic.
6. Take the small portion at the front of the head, take the elastic out and start a rope twist. Twist the two pieces to the right and then cross them over each other to the left. That way your twist won’t fall out.
7. Secure with an elastic at the bottom part of the dutch braid. You should have your dutch braid on the bottom and the twist along the middle on the top.
8. Continue a 3 strand braid with your hair that was in a dutch braid.
9. Secure all of the hair at the bottom into a ponytail or a messy braid.
This toddler hair tutorial may seem a little more intricate, but it really isn’t when you have the basics down. I had it done in about 10 minutes.
