You might notice that I utilize dutch braids a lot in my toddler styles. If you don’t know how to french or dutch braid, practice on your own hair or for a few minutes a day on your toddler and then do a simple style. Here is a step by step on how to do a dutch braid: Toddler Dutch Braid Tutorial.
This particular style incorporates side ponies into a middle dutch braid and is a great half up style. To achieve this toddler hairstyle, use wet/damp hair, and have these items handy: elastics, comb, spray gel.
How to do side ponies into a middle dutch braid:
- Section a middle portion up towards the front of the head and secure loosely with an elastic
- Section two smaller portions on the right and left with a elastics. This is where the video below will start.
- Begin a dutch braid at the front of the head using your middle section that you loosely secured. Take the elastic out and spray down the hair. As you add hair to your dutch braid, add the ponies from each side. You’ll want to wait until the braid is even with that particular pony to add it.
- Continue a 3 strand braid after you’ve run out of hair and secure at the bottom with an elastic!
This is a fun variation on the middle dutch braid and only takes a few minutes more than the regular one. For your hands on tutorial, watch the video below.
