Many times, I will resort to a dutch or french braid right on the top of my daughter’s head. It’s fun to get creative with how we do these braids and that’s what I did today. I will soon have a tutorial coming on how to do a simple dutch braid if you do not know or are unable to do one. Once you’ve practiced doing them, they are actually pretty quick and easy. You can do it with toddlers with short hair, you just have to practice! This hairstyle took me about 10 minutes to do.
To achieve this toddler hairstyle:
- Start off with wet hair. Section off a piece of hair at the front of the head. The back part should be diagonal from one side of head to another. Secure loosely with an elastic
- Section off a second piece of hair, also parted at a diagonal right behind the first piece. Secure loosely with an elastic.
- Secure the rest of the hair at the nape of the neck so that you don’t get unwanted hair while you are doing your dutch braid.
- Starting at one side of the head, braid diagonally across the head. When you run out of hair to add to your dutch braid, continue a 3 strand braid until you are out of hair and secure with an elastic.
- Repeat step 4 with the section of hair behind the first section.
- Tie the two braids together at the end in a simple knot, secure with an elastic and add a bow!
Ta-da! Isn’t it darling?
