Learning how to do a Mohawk Bubble Braid is actually really simple and this is a style that you can change up depending on how much hair your toddler has. You can do it halfway down their head if the hair is really short or all the way down if they are a bit older.
For this style, I worked with semi wet hair. You don’t want it completely wet, but just enough to tame it. If it’s too wet, it’s hard to achieve the bubble look in between each elastic. Like most of my other styles, I use Garnier Fructis Spray Gel to help hold the style in place, Fine Tooth Combs
, and Clear Elastic Braiding Bands
How to do this style:
- Start with a sectioned piece right up at the front of the head and secure an elastic. Pin or clip up and out of the way.
- Section off a second piece of hair below the first and add your hair from the first area to the second. This will give you your first bubble.
- To get the full look, tug on the outer sides of the hair to make your bubble. This is illustrated in the video below.
- Continue adding sections of hair until you get to the nape of the neck, bubbling out the hair as you go.
- After the nape of the neck, simple add a few more elastics to the ponytail and bubble them as well.
- Secure with an elastic at the very end.
I like this style because it stays in all day and is great for activities your toddler might be involved in. My daughter wore this mohawk braid to dance class today. She looked adorable and her hair was out of her face the entire time.
